Bailey Bulletin May 2020

Bailey News from JAPAN May 2020 Greetings from Japan, where we are currently on “lock-down” just as you are in the States. Our world has changed drastically! We returned from over son and daughter-in-law’s American wedding on February 24th, and Japanese Prime Minister Abe mandated that schools shut down from the 28th. Since that date, we have been told to refrain from public meetings, so all of our classes/Bible studies have been suspended until the mandate is lifted. We have continued to have Worship Service through SKYPE with our “mother” church, Iriso FWB, on Sunday mornings and this has been a blessing to our members. We’ve also had to get “creative” in maintaining contact with our 22 Mommy & Me and Kids’ Club families, Iriso Women’s English and Bible Class members and the unsaved men affiliated with KCC. We’ve been sending and receiving emails, LINE messages, phone and group chats, grocery deliveries as needed, taking people to and from the grocery store, and we’ve been able to deliver monthly devotion books and Christian comic books to many of the families, along with Easter bags we had prepared for our annual Mommy & Me Easter party. People in our area seem to be (mostly) staying indoors and wearing masks and gloves and using precaution. Today we received news that the Japanese schools will remain closed until the end of June. (Their school year begins in April and finishes in March, so the beginning of the school year has not yet started.) We, along with all of you, are praying for a cure to be discovered and a way to restart some sort of “normal” living. We mentioned our son and daughter-in-law’s American wedding; they were married in Japan last November 22nd, but they had planned a small February wedding in the States for our daughter’s family from Seattle and Ayumi’s family from Osaka to meet. It was a great time of celebration and being together, getting to interact with our new relatives! We are scheduled to return to the States sometime this summer/fall, providing we can leave Japan by that time. Presently we are not permitted to leave, and Americans, along with several other countries, are not allowed to enter. We are looking forward to connecting with you and sharing our ministries with you! We pray that each one of you remains safe and that, even during these uncertain times, we can use these days to draw closer to God. He is still watching over us and is always in control!

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.” Psalm 91:14-15
