Baptisms + Back in Bulgaria

Jonathan and Amy Postlewaite

We returned to Bulgaria in September, just in time to attend our annual church conference in the mountains. What an amazing experience it was to see five believers from our New Life churches (including one from Pleven and one from Odarne) decide to publicly express their commitment to follow Christ through believer’s baptism! We give God all the glory and praise for the work HE is doing in the hearts of these individuals!

We are beginning our third term as church planters in Bulgaria with an awareness that we will probably have a lot on our plates for the next few years. A growing family, a growing team, and growing churches will most likely mean a growing amount of responsibilities. As we have been praying for God to provide the resources, strength, and discipline we need for this season of our lives, it has been encouraging to see Him providing for these needs! Within our first few days of being back, some of our students wrote to us volunteering to help in roles of music, child care, and cleaning the church building in Pleven. We also found out a young man from Odarne is not letting His wheelchair limit him from being involved in telling others about Jesus. Since returning from our church conference, he has been giving a copy of the Gospel of Luke to everyone he sees and inviting them to our church gatherings! What a blessing it is to see all of these believers seeking opportunities to use their abilities and resources for God’s glory.

Please pray that God would continue to give us wisdom as we lead and encourage the people of the churches in Pleven and Odarne. Pray that many of them would respond well to the challenge to daily spend time in the Word and to begin one-on-one discipleship Bible studies with us. Pray that God would use the English Club and Catan Bible study, both which will this next week, to give us opportunities to share His love and truth with more people in our city.
