Praises and Prayer Requests from Pleven

Jonathan and Amy Postlewaite

The ability to meet with others is a blessing that we do not ever want to take for granted! Many countries in Europe have recently gone back to “lockdown” status or to more strict social distancing regulations because of the increasing number of cases of COVID-19. Bulgaria is experiencing an increase in cases as well, but for now it is still permissible to have church gatherings and Bible studies and for our kids to attend school “in person.” We are not sure how long this will be possible, but we want to be thankful for these opportunities while we have them!

Over the last few weeks, several new people have started joining us for our Sunday worship gatherings in Pleven and in Odarne. Pray that God would continue to reveal His love and truth to these individuals and that they would, in His time, choose to commit their lives to Him. Pray for continued growth in their relationships with Him and with us.

In our last newsletter, we asked you to pray that a few individuals to accept our invitation to begin one-on-one discipleship Bible studies with us. We praise God that this request has been answered! Recently, Jonathan started regularly meeting for discipleship with two young men. We are so thrilled that these they have expressed a desire to go deeper in their relationship with Christ, and we can’t wait to see the amazing ways that God is going to work in and through them.

We appreciate your continued prayers for this year’s “Operation Christmas Child” outreaches in the region of Pleven, Bulgaria, which will be taking place in less than two months. It still remains to be seen how much restrictions on public gatherings and travel will affect our plans for this project. Pray that God would give us wisdom as we plan and prepare for these outreach events.

We are so thankful for the tasks and the relationships that the Lord has been filling our lives with lately. We are thankful for His grace, strength, and peace which provide stability in unsure times. We are thankful for His love for ALL people, which He demonstrated when He sent His son Jesus Christ to be our Redeemer. We are thankful for opportunities to share that love with people in Bulgaria, because of people like you who faithfully support us through giving and through your prayers!

One final prayer request that we would like to share is that our new teammates Keren Delgado and Ken and Jayne Cash would be issued the visas that they need to be able to join the IM church-planting work in Bulgaria. They are all now fully funded and ready to come over, but COVID-19 has made the visa application process quite complicated. Pray that the Lord would move the mountains that are needed for this need to be met in His way and in His timing!
