Two Weeks and Counting

Doug and Miriam Bishop

It has been two weeks since we left for Japan. The night before we left, Doug realized he left his passport in Greenville. Miriam’s Dad was able to meet him halfway, and he made it back to Nashville forty-five minutes before we had to leave for the airport. Thankfully everything went well once we got to the airport! The kids did great (for the most part), and everything went smoothly. Since we were up early with jetlag we decided to go ahead and get some things done. Over the last two weeks we have registered with the city office, signed up for insurance, renewed our driver’s liscences, recieved cell phones, started registration for the kid’s schools, met with our midwife, and filled out SO many different forms! Please pray for us as we continue to get settled. We are hoping to lay a good foundation for our first term!

On Saturday night we had the chance to attend a meeting for high school students/young adults at Doug’s friend Kouta’s house. He has asked Doug to help with these nights on a rotating basis. Will you pray that the Lord will give us wisdom to know what to do? We have several opportunites we could jump right into, but we need wisdom on how to best use our time. Also, please pray for the non-Christians who attend these meetings.
On June 16th, E-team arrives. We are expecting ten high school students, and Miriam’s parents who will be their leaders. The Carneys and the Bishops (Doug’s parents) have done the planning, and we will just assist however we can. Please pray for the teens to be open to God’s leading during their trip, and for the hearts of the Japanese people they come into contact with to be open to the Gospel!
