November 24, 2021 – Praises on Thanksgiving Week

Happy Thanksgiving! Thank you for partnering with IM in prayer. Here is a special Hotline filled with not only prayer requests but also many reasons our missionaries are thankful this year!

Brazil

  • Kenneth Eagleton – Praise the Lord for four people (two teens and a couple) who were baptized Sunday at the First FWB Church in Campinas, Brazil.

Bulgaria

  • Tim & Lydia Awtrey – Thank God for several people who are attending the Alpha Bible Study. Please pray that they will make a commitment to Jesus and step out on faith to attend church services.
  • Keren Delgado – Praise God that my visa application/interview went well. I don’t have a response yet, but this is normal, as the process can take 45 business days or two months. Thank you for praying for me as I wait.
  • Brenton & Debbie Driscoll – Praise God for the friends who joined us for our special Thanksgiving dinner last week. Continue to pray that they will find purpose and freedom in Christ.
  • Jonathan & Amy Postlewaite – Tomorrow evening we will be having our church family at our house to celebrate Thanksgiving with us. Please pray that this will be a good time of encouragement as we fellowship together and give God thanks for what He has done.
  • Trif & Vanya Trifonov – Praise God for a very good Q&A night with the youths in the church! Also, we are thankful for the progress in the repair work on the fourth floor and the basement of the church. Please, pray that 1) the new youths who recently joined our church would let the Word of God continue its work of transformation in them, and 2) for good coordination on our part, and energy and physical strength for the workers, so that the remaining work would be completed.

Cuba

  • Kenneth Eagleton – Praise the Lord for three young people who were baptized at the San Cristobal FWB Church in Cuba. Praise the Lord for the ten students of an extension center of the FWB Seminary that operates at the San Francisco FWB Church. They received their Associate’s degree in Bible and ministry this past Friday in Cuba.

Ecuador

  • Adam & Carol Duncan – Praise the Lord that Carol was able to attend the Missionary Medicine training through Equip International in North Carolina last week. We give praise that we are getting closer to being fully funded. We praise the Lord that Carol’s dad is responding well to the Parkinson’s and seizure medications.

Japan

  • Jack & Ashley Ketteman – We are thankful for God’s protection as we’ve driven more than 9,000 miles since we landed at the end of June! We are thankful for the encouragement we’ve received from being around the body of Christ in America, and for new partnerships. We are thankful for continued growth at Hope Alive and more involvement from our Japanese brothers and sisters. We are thankful as well for time with family as we celebrate together this week.

Panama

  • Kenneth Eagleton – 70-year-old Pastor Nicolás Valdes passed away Wednesday evening. He served in the ministry in Panama for over 40 years. He was currently pastor of the Buenos Aires FWB Church in Panama. Pray for the family, the church, and the whole denomination.

Spain

  • Tim & Kristi Johnson – During this Thanksgiving season, we wanted to let you know how thankful we are for your prayers and support during this year of transition for our family.  We left Spain in June and have been able to begin our year of “Missionary in Residence” at Welch College, while still traveling to visit supporting churches.  Each class we’ve taught, each mile we’ve driven, and each time we’ve shared about our ministry has been a wonderful blessing.
  • Josh & Bethany (THP) – This year as we reflect on the blessings we have received, we are reminded of each supporter, each church, each prayer that has contributed in some way to us being here. We wouldn’t be here without you! In another year that has had so much loss, we are so thankful for what we have gained: prayers from around the world, a new country to call home, a new language. The kids have grown so much and they are talking more and more every day, bringing joy with them wherever they go. Here, we are seeing lives changed! For these and so much more, we are thanking the Father.

Mission Family

  • Pray for our expecting missionary families: Brenton and Debbie Driscoll (Bulgaria)and Daniel and Kate Speer (Japan). Pray the babies will grow and mature as expected.
  • Please pray for our Stateside missionaries as they seek prayer and financial support.
  • Pray for those who are still affected by COVID around the world. Many countries around the world are still struggling.
  • Pray for former missionaries struggling with a variety of health problems: Carlisle Hanna (India), Jerry Pinkerton (Ivory Coast), Bobby and Sue Aycock (Brazil), Florine Coscia (Brazil), Ledgel and Sharon Ferguson (Ivory Coast and France), Glenda Fulcher (Uruguay and Panama), Mirial Gainer (Japan), Joe and Barb Haas (France), Sherwood and Vada Lee (Ivory Coast), Lloyd Plunkett (Côte d’Ivoire), Amy Robinson (Uruguay), Tom Willey, Jr. (Cuba & Panama), and Don Robirds (Brazil, IM office).
