A few years ago, I met a Muslim guy named Liam. We really clicked, and I felt like God was going to use our friendship for something special in his life. Unfortunately, I didn’t get his contact information, and it was a while before I saw him again.
A few months later, I was standing in line at the Post Office (which feels about like the DMV in the States), and was praying and asking God to give me more opportunities to share the Gospel with those around me. I’ve heard so many stories about how God leads people to talk to random folks that they’re waiting in line with or that they meet in the street.
I asked God if He wanted me to talk to this person here, that person there, or “that Arab guy” over there. Then, as “that Arab guy” started to walk out of the Post Office, he tapped me on the shoulder and said, “Hey, how’s it going? How have you been?” I was taken aback because I didn’t recognize him, but in talking to him, I realized it was Liam! We reconnected, and I got his number, but unfortunately, I had to go back Stateside for a few months, and we lost touch again.
When I returned to France, I reconnected with Liam and invited him to my place for halal Nashville Hot Chicken. We started talking about beliefs, and I was able to watch some videos on YouTube about the Bible with him. A few weeks later, I went over to his house and had a meal. After dinner, he asked me if I wanted to watch a movie, and I said sure. Then something unthinkable happened. Liam, my Muslim friend, looked at me and asked if I wanted to watch The Passion of the Christ with him!
So for the next two hours, I was able to share the Gospel with Liam in his own home! We’ve watched countless videos on YouTube about the Gospel or Christianity vs. Islam apologetics. I gave him a Bible and a Gospel of Matthew in French, with helpful footnotes and explanations that clear up misconceptions that Muslims have about the Gospel.
Please keep me in your prayers, because my teammate and I are going to start reading through the Gospel of Matthew with my friend Liam and our friend Jay. Sharing the Gospel with Muslims can be a long and slow process, but God has promised us that His Word will never return void. Will you join us in praying that Liam and Jay will come to Christ through the reading of His Word?
