Meet Osam and Emily Sakamoto, IM Missionaries to Japan
We are planting a church! We have been working on the Hope Alive Tokorozawa team for the last few years. Hope Alive in Tokorozawa has seen tremendous growth that only God could do. Hope Alive Network wants to plant bilingual churches at major stations in Japan. We are blessed to announce that we are doing just that! The Ikebukuro station is the third busiest train station in all of Japan.
Why Ikebukuro, Japan?
It is the next step towards the center of Tokyo. In Japan, less than 1% believe in Jesus, and sadly, even less than that have heard. In Ikebukuro, there is even greater potential for reaching more who are open to the Gospel. We believe that impacting the heart of Tokyo will ultimately impact all of Japan

How will they do this?
When we announced to our church that we were planting we were astounded that God had placed it on our local believer’s hearts to join us. Just like Jesus, we prayed for 12 individuals or families to go with us, walk beside us, and share Jesus with Tokyo. Because God has called them, several families decided to come with us. We will work alongside our faithful believers to build His Kingdom in Tokyo.
How you can pray for them:
- Pray for natural opportunities to share the Gospel early and often.
- Pray for the Japanese people and local believers who will be serving beside us.
- Pray for us to have a Spirit-led ministry.
- Pray we see Baptisms that turn into faithful disciples of Jesus.
