10 Reasons Why Not (Perspectives)

Ten Reasons Why You Should NOT Take the Perspectives Course

By David Flynn

10. You will be forced out of your comfort zone.

(Who wants that?)

9. Your prayer life will significantly change focus.

(My prayers are focused. They might be focused on me, but they are focused.)

8. It will mess up your ten-year plan.

(Ten-year plan? Dude, I don’t even have a five-year plan!)

7. You will realize that many of the Western cultural norms that you integrated into your religion are really not part of the Gospel after all.

(You mean potluck dinners are not found in the Bible? Darn!)

6. Internationals living and working here in the U.S. that you never took notice of will suddenly seem to appear out of the woodwork.

(That sounds like Night of the Living Alien. Scary stuff, man.)

5. You will begin to listen carefully to the words you are singing in worship.

(As long as the music is upbeat and loud, what does it matter?)

4. You will be forced to abandon low ambitions.

(Whatever.)

3. Your life’s agenda will take a back seat to God’s agenda.

(Whattaya mean? I want what God wants. As long as I’m safe and happy.)

2. You will view current events around the world not in fear, but as opportunities and in light of God’s unfolding story of His Kingdom expansion.

(Dude, that’s too heavy for me. I’ll stick to getting my news from Facebook.)

1. You will no longer be content with mediocre Christianity, but will be ruined for the ordinary!

(I don’t want to be ruined by anything!)
