Maternity Renovation in Doropo, Ivory Coast

Fifty-nine years ago, this month, Dr. LaVerne Miley, along with his family, arrived in Doropo, in the northeastern corner of Ivory Coast, in Africa. There was no access to medical care and there were no believers in this part of the country and the population was steeped in its worship of the spirits.

As soon as Dr. Miley arrived, construction began on a medical clinic, funded by Free Will Baptists in America. Even while the clinic was under construction, Dr. Miley treated patients under a tree. The medical clinic thrived and became a rural hospital with a good reputation not only in that region, but throughout the country.
The medical work served to soften the hearts of the peoples that lived in this area to where they were willing to hear the gospel. Nearly sixty years later, this is one of the areas that is most fruitful in the growth of FWBs in the country.
This clinic and hospital, which continues to be staffed by FWBs, is in dire need of repairs, updating, and expansion of its buildings and equipment. IM has created the IMPact Ivory Coast Miley Project to help our Ivorian believers in their renovation efforts. Currently, the maternity wing is under renovation. The estimated cost of renovating the delivery room and updating the equipment is approximately $19,000.00. We could really use your support.
The quality care women receive at our FWB hospital and the growth of the population have led to a growth in the number of deliveries performed there. In the last 3 years for which I have statistics, these were the total yearly deliveries: 716 (2017), 811 (2018), and 928 (2019). That is an average annual growth of approximately 14% !
Photos show the delivery room with one of the birthing tables and counter, the maternity ward with beds for the mother and cribs for the babies, and the outside of the maternity wing.
Your contribution will make it possible for women to deliver in safety, newborn lives to be saved, and patients who will hear the gospel while in the hospital.
