Persecution: Number 37 on Open Doors 2019 World Watch List and located in North Africa, Tunisia’s 11.7 million people are primarily Muslim. Those who profess Jesus as Lord, less than 1% (23,700), not only experience governmental exclusions and persecution but face daily verbal, mental, and physical abuse from their families and communities. Possessing Christian literature may lead to prosecution for proselytizing. Pray persecuted believers will feel God’s presence, hope, and love. Ask God to protect Christian young people from forced marriages with non-believers. Pray Christians will, like Daniel and his three friends, find favor with employers and government officials because of their exemplary work ethic and demonstration of the fruit of the Spirit.
Stateside: Churches across the United States (and around the world) emphasize international missions during the month of April. Ask God to burden hearts for the millions of people who have never heard the Way of salvation, never seen a Bible, or never heard the name of Jesus. Contributions to the WMO benefit work in Brazil, Panama, Cuba, Ivory Coast, Ghana, India, Russia, Central Asia, and more. Ask God to prompt people to give generously to the World Missions Offering this Sunday, April 28.
Bulgaria: Bulgaria’s churches (along with those in Central Asia, Russia, and others using the Orthodox calendar) will celebrate Easter this Sunday, April 28. Pray for Jonathan and Amy as they hold a service in a rented space. Pray the 37 people who attended their Palm Sunday event will attend and bring others. Ask God to be with Josh and Lydia Provow as they hold their first service in their new home/ministry center. Pray their diverse circle of friends will experience what it means to worship God. Pray the New Life FWB Churches in Varna (Trifonovs) and Svishtov (Awtreys) will have many visitors with whom the hope of the Resurrection will resonate and draw them to Christ.
Côte d’Ivoire: Praise God, for the ordination of six deacons and two elders in the Angré Free Will Baptist Church in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Ask God to continue to lead these men and Pastor Samuel Ouattara as they serve their congregation and community.
India: Pray for elections in India, held in seven phases April 11-May 19. Some have cited these elections as the most important in decades. Pray elections will be peaceful and fair. Pray those elected will publicly and privately condemn those inciting religious violence. Pray God will give Christians boldness in the face of opposition and protection as they affirm their faith in Jesus.
Stateside: Ask the Lord to provide wisdom and discernment for the IM board as they meet, April 29-30. Pray discussions and decisions will reflect divine guidance, perspective, and understanding. Pray for safety as they travel and good health for board members.
Mission Family: Pray for former missionaries struggling with a variety of health problems: Sue Aycock (Brazil), Florine Coscia (Brazil), Cathy Crawford (France, reported to be in her last days), Ledgel and Sharon Ferguson (Ivory Coast and France), Howard (Howdy) Filkins (Ivory Coast), Mirial Gainer (Japan), Joe Haas (France), Steve Lytle (Panama, IM office), Lloyd Plunkett (Côte d’Ivoire), Amy Robinson (Uruguay), and Don Robirds (Brazil, IM office).
