JPense is More Than an Event: From Doubt to Baptism

Written by Lydie Teague, IM missionary in France (March 2026)

I want to share a bit of a special day that happened recently and share why.

Last year in 2025, just before coming to the United States to visit you, we organized a JPense event–an IM event that is designed to welcome French people, provide a time for questions about Christianity, and an opportunity for IM missionaries to share the Gospel.

A young woman, who wasn’t a Christian, came along with some Christian friends. At the end of the evening, she came to talk to me because she had been deeply moved and challenged by the message Joel shared. She had many questions, and we ended up talking for quite a while.

At that moment, it felt like she was just beginning to take an interest in God, but at the same time, she was anxious about the possibility that the Bible could be true. It was a mix of emotions that I think many people experience when they begin seeking God as adults: excitement about discovering more, combined with fear, questions, and doubts.

I did my best to answer her questions and gave her a few books. I also knew she would be supported by some Christians from the north of Nantes, whom I also know.

Then, at the most recent JPense event last month (2026), this same young woman came to see Joel and me and said:

“Friends, I’m going to get baptized. Thank you! I just wanted to thank you for the JPense events—please keep going! It really makes a difference.”

Wow! How encouraging!

Her baptism was last month (March 2026), and she was also able to share her testimony! Praise the Lord with us for this exciting news!
