A thriving church takes more than a building and a Sunday service. It takes faithful leaders, biblical training, and a community of believers committed to sharing the Gospel. During an early October trip to Uruguay, Frank Vazquez and Kenneth Eagleton have witnessed firsthand how investing in local church leaders can strengthen ministries and help advance the Gospel.
In Montevideo, they spent time with Pastor Yosvanys, a Cuban pastor revitalizing a church in the capital city. They joined the church’s men’s meeting for fellowship, a traditional Uruguayan barbecue, and a devotional Frank shared.
Traveling to Melo, they also visited with the pastor of a Free Will Baptist Church and his wife, learning more about their ministry in Uruguay. In Rivera, they toured four Free Will Baptist churches and met with local leaders to discuss ministry strategies, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
One highlight was Kenneth teaching the first session of a Systematic Theology course at the Bible Institute meeting at Central Free Will Baptist Church in Rivera. With many new students arriving to begin their studies, the need for biblical training was evident. Kenneth will continue teaching the course through teleconferencing, extending this investment in local leaders beyond their visit in Uruguay.
Kenneth and Frank’s visit also included joint worship services at Sta. Teresa Free Will Baptist Church and Central Free Will Baptist Church, where Pastor Reniel, also from Cuba, was installed as the church’s new pastor. Prayer is especially needed for Pastor Carlos, the former pastor, and his wife as she faces terminal cancer.
These moments represent more than a week of ministry. They are opportunities to encourage pastors, equip emerging leaders, and strengthen churches that will continue reaching their communities long after a visiting team returns home.
Your support helps make this work possible. By investing in IM partnerships, leadership development, and biblical training, you help local churches grow stronger and equip leaders to share the hope of the Gospel in Uruguay.
Together, we are building a foundation for lasting ministry and a growing witness for Christ around the world!
