Meet Reece Rooke, IM Missionary to Japan
Reece Rooke (Russellville, AR) was commissioned as a missionary to Tokyo, Japan, where he will join the Hope Alive team.
Why Japan?
I was given a burden for Japan in 2019 while I was there with ETEAM, and that burden continued to grow while serving on CMP in 2022. The suicide and depression rates that I learned about broke my heart. According to the World Health Organization, suicide is estimated to be the leading cause of death for males aged 10-49 and females aged 10-44 by a very wide margin. Due to the culture, Japanese teens have a lot of pressure put on them, by themselves and others, to perform well in school and life. At 16 years old Christ brought me out of this same darkness they are surrounded by every day and I know now that he was preparing me for this specific ministry opportunity where I will be specifically working with teenagers in Ikebukuro.

Prayer Requests
- Family and Separation: Pray for peace and comfort for my family and me as we prepare for a difficult season of separation—especially for my mom, my brother, and my young niece Thea, whom I will deeply miss.
- Receptive Hearts in Japan: Pray for open and receptive hearts among the Japanese people, that they would be willing to hear and respond to the message of Christ despite the cultural and familial challenges they may face.
- Peace, Patience, and Endurance: Pray that I would remain patient, encouraged, and steadfast in faith, trusting God’s work in Japan even when results are slow or unseen.
