Meet Silas Houser, IM Missionary to Bulgaria
My name is Silas Houser, and by the grace of God, I have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus for a grand purpose. During high school and college, I was exposed to missions, and I slowly felt the Lord leading me towards long-term cross-cultural ministry. As I began studying the Mission of God as presented throughout the Scriptures and being informed of the needs around the world, I felt burdened to go. I resonate with Paul when he wrote, “I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation” (Romans 15:20). With this conviction, I am excited to join the IM Family to serve in the country of Bulgaria.
Why Bulgaria?
“Put your ‘yes’ on the table, and let God place it where He may.” In the summer of 2023, the Lord began burdening my spirit for the Bulgarian people and knitting my heart to those I would one day call teammates. Time only confirmed my convictions. A summer internship revealed the ripe harvest that God was preparing among these unreached people. By the grace of God, I now get to be a part of it.
That leads to the original question: “Why Bulgaria?” In observing the great need for the gospel and the ripe harvest God is preparing, the Lord, in His providence, burdened and threaded my heart together with those I will serve with and those we will be ministering to. What a beloved pilgrimage it is to serve our King to this end. Praise be to God!

Prayer Requests
- Pray that the Body of Christ would be moved to give financially, as I hope to be 80% funded by October 2025.
- Pray that the Lord will provide discipline in language learning as I begin preparing for life on the field.
- Pray that the Lord would begin preparing the hearts of the Bulgarians to receive the message with meekness.
